CAG ONE Evolution – Professional Automatic Skate Sharpener

CAG ONE Evolution is a professional skate sharpening machine designed for skate service centres, ice rinks, hockey clubs, sports teams and other facilities that sharpen skates on a regular basis. It combines an automatic sharpening cycle, a self-centering skate holder and the Spinner system for precise grinding wheel preparation.

CAG ONE Evolution was developed for professional users who require high sharpening quality, repeatable results and greater control over the final sharpening characteristics.

The machine can sharpen hockey skates, goalie skates and figure skates without requiring additional holders for these three main types of skates.

Approx. 1 Minute

According to the manufacturer, a single sharpening cycle takes approximately one minute.

Self-Centering Holder

Automatic blade positioning helps maintain correct sharpening geometry and repeatability.

Spinner System

Precise grinding wheel preparation with the ability to select the required Radius of Hollow.

Professional Finish

The system is designed to produce smooth, even and precisely finished skate blade edges.

3 Types of Skates

Hockey skates, goalie skates and figure skates.

Commercial Use

Designed for professional skate sharpening services and regular day-to-day operation.

Professional Skate Sharpening at the Touch of a Button

CAG ONE Evolution automates the main part of the skate sharpening process. Once the skate is secured in the holder, the operator starts the cycle and the machine guides the grinding wheel along the skate blade in a controlled and repeatable manner.

According to the manufacturer, one sharpening cycle takes approximately 1 minute. This makes CAG ONE Evolution suitable for professional skate service centres as well as sharpening stations operating directly at an ice rink.

Automation does not mean giving up control over the final result. This is one of the most important differences between CAG ONE Evolution and the CAG ONE Diamond system.

CAG ONE Grinding Wheels for Professional Skate Sharpening

CAG ONE Evolution uses conventional CAG ONE grinding wheels. This allows the operator to prepare the wheel for the required hollow geometry and adapt the sharpening setup to the needs and preferences of the skater.

CAG ONE offers different grinding wheel variants for professional sharpening, including options intended for a very smooth finish and variants designed for more intensive material removal.

CAG ONE Evolution is designed for users who want greater control over the skate sharpening process.
Unlike the CAG ONE Diamond system, which uses grinding wheels with predefined ROH values, Evolution works with the Spinner system, allowing the operator to prepare the grinding wheel for the selected sharpening geometry.

CAG ONE Diamond Spinner System

One of the key components of CAG ONE Evolution is the Diamond Spinner system. It works with a diamond Spinner tool used to precisely prepare the surface and geometry of the grinding wheel before sharpening.

By selecting the appropriate Spinner, the operator can prepare the grinding wheel for a specific ROH – Radius of Hollow. This provides greater flexibility and makes it possible to tailor the sharpening setup to the preferences of the skater or customer.

Available Spinner Options

1" 7/8" 3/4" 5/8" 9/16" 1/2" 7/16" 3/8" 1/4"

Selected FBV options are also available in the manufacturer's range. Individual Spinner tools are selected according to the required skate sharpening geometry.

ROH – Radius of Hollow refers to the radius of the concave groove between the two edges of the skate blade. A smaller ROH creates a deeper hollow, while a larger ROH creates a shallower hollow.

Self-Centering Skate Holder

CAG ONE Evolution features a self-centering skate holder designed to position the blade correctly in relation to the sharpening system.

Automatic centering reduces the number of manual adjustments required by the operator and helps improve repeatability between consecutive sharpening cycles.

This is particularly important in professional skate service environments where several employees may operate the same machine or a large number of skates are sharpened every day.

Smooth, Professional Skate Blade Finish

The manufacturer places particular emphasis on the quality of the finish achieved with CAG ONE Evolution. The combination of a stable guiding system, self-centering holder and Spinner system is designed to produce even, precise skate blade edges with a very smooth finish.

The quality of the final finish and the ability to control how the grinding wheel is prepared are among the main advantages of the Evolution system.

Hockey, Goalie and Figure Skate Sharpening

A single CAG ONE Evolution skate sharpener can be used for the three major categories of skates:

  • hockey skates,
  • goalie skates,
  • figure skates.

According to the manufacturer, no additional attachments are required for sharpening these three types of skates.

CAG ONE Evolution or CAG ONE Diamond?

CAG ONE Evolution

Designed for professional users who value high-quality blade finishing and greater control over the sharpening process.

Evolution uses conventional grinding wheels together with the Diamond Spinner system, allowing the operator to prepare the wheel for the selected ROH.

This makes it particularly suitable for professional skate service centres, ice rinks and teams that perform different types of skate sharpening.

CAG ONE Diamond

A model focused primarily on maximum simplicity and automation.

CAG ONE Diamond uses dedicated Diamond grinding wheels with predefined ROH values, simplifying the sharpening process and reducing the number of steps required from the operator.

It is a strong option for facilities where a simple and highly repeatable workflow is the priority.

A Skate Sharpener Designed for Professional Use

CAG ONE has been developing technology for professional skate sharpening and blade profiling since 1987. According to the manufacturer, CAG ONE solutions are also used by professional hockey organisations.

CAG ONE Evolution is designed for professional users who value not only service speed but also control over sharpening geometry, blade edge finish and repeatability.

CAG ONE Warranty

According to the manufacturer, new CAG ONE machines are covered by a 2-year limited warranty. The warranty covers parts and labour for repairs approved as warranty cases.

Shipping, transportation and machine handling costs remain the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed in writing. The warranty does not cover, among other things, normal wear of consumable components, improper use or unauthorised modifications.
